Welcome to the Celiac Press! We’re Isabelle and Peter. This blog is where we talk about cooking, Celiac disease, and all around tips and tricks for dealing with food sensitivities.
Isabelle has been dealing with Celiac disease and food sensitivities for the past decade or so. Meanwhile, Peter has been learning about gluten-free and allergy friendly cooking over the last two years—when Isabelle came into his life. Together, we have become better cooks and far more skilled in the kitchen than we could have ever imagined.
While we do go out to eat from time-to-time, we both cook a lot. While this is not only easier (and cheaper) with Isabelle’s dietary restrictions, we both really love to make our own food from scratch. And we do.
Between food prepping and finding the tools and recipes that work for us, we’ve been able to make food not only that both of us can eat, but that we also want to eat. It might take a little work (and some trial and error), but we’ve learned a lot about allergy-friendly cooking over the past couple of years.
On this site, you’ll find Isabelle’s “Diary of a Celiac” where she shares her personal experiences learning about and managing her celiac disease. You’ll also find Peter’s side of the story under “Living With a Celiac,” where he talks about his experiences as a non-Celiac adapting to Isabelle’s food sensitivities. Both of us will be posting recipes we’ve come up with that are tried and true, as well as tips and tricks for eating at restaurants, being gluten free on a budget, and hosting larger events for people with serious food allergies and more strict dietary preferences. We also review products, kitchen tools, and restaurants. We have cooked meals for celiacs, nut allergies, and people who follow vegetarian or vegan diets—and it has all tasted amazing.
